Schedule Change
Due to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help School's concern regarding COVID-19, the school has requested that we reschedule our Saturday class to Friday evening. Please refer to the Locations & Times page for the updated training time for your relevant session. Beginners Courses A new series of beginners courses both for children and adults will be starting on Thursday, September 10, 2020. If you or someone you know is interested taking part, please contact us via the Contacts page before that date. Smallsword Workshop - Feb 8, 2020
This Saturday, Feb 8, 2020 from 10:30am-12:30pm, we will be holding a French Smallsword workshop taught by Maître Longino. It is open to students currently enrolled in Groups 1, 2, or 3. If you would like to take part, please send an email to confirm. The deadline for registration is Monday, Feb 3, 2020 at 9:00pm. Private Lessons with Maître Longino - Feb 7, 2020 Maître Longino will be available for Private Lessons on Friday, Feb 7, 2020 from 5-7:30pm. If you would like to take a lesson from the Maître, please send me an email and I will provide information to you regarding available times as well as the cost and venue. FPhLunch & Dinner with Maître Longino There is a tentative FPhLunch planned for Maître Longino's visit. As we are in the process of confirming the topic, I will announce it during the week. Also, I am planning on taking Maître Longino out for dinner over the course of the weekend of his visit; if you are interested in taking part, please let me know and I will inform you of our plans. Group Assignment & Schedule - February 2020 The Group Assignment & Schedule for February has been sent out. For all students currently enrolled, please take note of special events, closure dates, and relevant class times for courses which you have registered for. Secondary Weapons & Foil Intensive cancelled; Group 3 Foil Class rescheduled - Feb 8, 2020 With the Smallsword workshop taking place Saturday, Feb 8, 2020, the Secondary Weapons & Foil Intensive classes have been cancelled for that day. Also, Group 3 Foil Class has been rescheduled for 9:30-10:30am. Please take note of these changes. Closure - Feb 10, 2020 Classes have been cancelled for Monday, Feb 10, 2020. Beginners Course Q1 2020's Beginners Course starts this Thursday, Jan 30, 2020 at 5:30pm for both children and adults. If you have inquiries or would like to register, please send a message via the contact page. With heightened concerns regarding the Novel Coronavirus and also being in the middle of flu season, please exercise your best judgment as to whether or not to attend class if you are experiencing flu symptoms. Fiesta Day Parade - Saturday, June 22nd The Point Grey Fiesta Day Parade will be taking place on Saturday, June 22nd. We will be continuing our annual tradition of participating in this parade, and therefore will be beginning parade practice at the start of each class in June. July Summer Camp! We will be holding a summer camp from July 8th to 12th, 9am to noon daily. It is open to anyone ages 8-17. The weapons we will be focussing on are foil, poignard, sabre, and foil and poignard. We will be holding a workshop on Foil and Poignard this Saturday, April 20th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. This is a reminder to everyone that Group 3 Foil class will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday. The planned FPhLunch following the workshop has been cancelled due to a lack of registration. Congratulation Mr. Lai! Our teacher, Joe, has recently been accepted into the Instructor-in-training program at Salle Saint-Georges. We will be holding a food bank food drive beginning Monday, March 11th. Anything you can contribute will be much appreciated. When bringing donations in, please place them inside the blue bin on the stage. If you would like suggestions on what to donate, please look at the list on the lid of the bin. The workshop will be held from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The topic of the workshop will be the tactical use of the prise du fer and attaque à fer, and the topic of the FPhLunch will be discussing the aristocratic mindset. The cost of the workshop is $35 and the cost of the FPhLunch is $25. The registration deadline is Saturday, February 16th at 1:00 pm. We need five people registered to hold the FPhLunch and three people registered to hold the workshop. Seattle Workshops - March There will be a workshop on Medieval sidesword at Salle Saint-George in Seattle in mid-March. If you are interested, please speak to Joe.
